Bike Tours in Ubud

One the things you can do during your stay in Ubud, Bali, is take one of the bike tours around the town. The tours are usually a business owned and run by locals that targets foreigners so you will find that most of the guides has more than adequate English skills.

Since they usually allow participants to stop at any time, these bike tours is a great chance to get a better sightseeing experience in and around Ubud and interact more with the locals.

I went on one before and it was a great experience for me. My group got picked up from the hotel at around 8 am and was driven to a coffee plantation where the guides tells us about coffee, tea and other fruits produced there. You can buy coffee there and they even have Kopi Luwak, if you don't know what kopi luwak is find out first before you try :).

From there we went on to have breakfast by a volcano and after that we get to pick up our bikes. If you're worried about getting exhausted you should be happy to know that the ride is mostly downhill and most of the time I didn't even have to paddle. Our guide led us through quiet country lanes, rice fields and small villages, the sights are amazing and there are plenty of stops for drinks or to chat with the locals as we learned a bit about village life in Ubud.

The ride itself took about 2.5 hours and the last stop was at the tour leader's own house where had lunch of delicious traditional Balinese dish prepared by his own wife. After lunch the host took time to tell us about the layout of his house and more about Balinese culture.

All in all it was a great experience for me my friends, so the next time you get to stay in Bali make sure to take a bike tour in Ubud.
